For those who love survivors stories, this one is fantastic.
The characters development, the multitude of themes tackled , the craziness of the games, the perfect rythme of the story and the raw emotions felt during the lecture, are what makes this stories a masterpiece.
The name of this masterpiece : Alice In Borderland/Imawa no Kuni no Arisu (I’ll be talking about the manga, only)
I’m not a fan of the synopsis, I like to do it my way.
How this manga can affect us, How is it special ?
Except one “magical” event in the first chapter, all the rest is reliable and you can’t avoid the question : “What if I was there ?” and from this first question, another question arises : “What can I learn from this experience ?”
Because, the characters are very reliable and realistic and the manga explores an importants numbers of behaviors and psychological states which makes us be able to identify ourselves with one character at least.
Talking about characters, the main characters (Alice Arisu) is not a special man who have great physical abilities like in Gantz, no, in Alice in Borderland, Arisu, all what he has is his psychological disposition to read the game and save his ass.
and one of hi preoccupation, is the meaning of the game and how to leave this hell even if this hell teachers him an incredible amount of precious lessons from life and what it means to really live.
Because the Borderland, where you risk your life in “games” and where your days can be count with one hand, the sun, the smile, each breath we experience is a precious and valuable moment that needs to be respected and appreciated as it is because it can be taken from us very rapidly.

Losing everything…no more will to live, Arisu, despite that continues and try to make up a reason so he don’t fall in darkness and we assist his reflections, his meditations, his ruminations, we follow his train of thoughts and series of actions.
The evolution of his personality is tormented with drama that keep pushing his will and honesty to its limits.
And all of this is possible because the “games” are freaking well thought and elaborated, with different types and levels.

and the most horrible type : The games that tests your “will to live”…This one, I let you “enjoy” the spectacle.
