Overpowered Characters with different narration

Are the OP characters boring ? Yes the stories to make it enjoyable, authors have to be more original in their approach.

Saitama, Mashle and Yu (The Boxer).

Saitama :

He lives in a world where strength is a bless, you can become a hero, someone if he has great strength can have money, power and glory.

The Story of Saitama in this aspect is being the strongest human but classed amongst the weakest, his accomplishments are always misunderstood and another one benefit from them.

His fights are more a test of the opponent than a real fight with adversity.

Mashle :

Mashle lives in a world where you need to have magic power or you’re killed.

Mashle is only op physically, he has nothing in magic.

And guess what he’s studying in “Poudlard” and needs to become the best magician.

We have many fights of Mashle (Saitama fights “rarely” as a MC). His fights are interesting because he needs to compensate his lack of magical ability and he needs to rely only on his physical abilities, which most of the time needs a lot of ingeniousness to win.

Yu from The Boxer :

This oeuvre isn’t a comedy and also, the story doesn’t emphsaze during fight in the main character as much the opponent.

Yu lives in a world where :

  • He’s a scaring creature power’s speaking.
  • He’s recognised for his strenght (unlike Saitama)
  • He has nothing to hide (unlike Mashle)

The focus here is on the opponent, and how far the opponent can go to try to win and how touching and emotional is his backstory.

That’s why the author gives us many chapters and in depth informations and scenes of the character.

So we want to root for him, even he’s going to lose.

The challenge is strange but it’s well done and I dedicated a whole article about this point, so I won’t repeat all my observations.

It’s cool to see, that we can start from something we can judge as “boring” and making it interesting and special.

Thank you, have a good day.
